Who We Are

We are Long and Sophie, the duo behind this travel blog, but you may also know us as the website owners and recipe authors of delightfulplate.com. With our combined passion for travel and good food, we love to immerse ourselves in the unique flavors and cultures of each new city we visit.

Living in the US. for 6 years gave us the opportunity to discover the diversity and cultural richness this vast country has to offer. During that time, we called the Champaign-Urbana area in Central Illinois our second home. Through exploring energetic cities and serene countryside to breathtaking national parks in the US., we developed a deep appreciation for the unique stories that each place has to tell.

Now, we are back in our home country and based in the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Our experiences, both in the US. and Vietnam, have shaped our perspectives and have fueled our desire to venture further and delve deeper into new cultures.

Throughout our travel journey, we have been fortunate enough to travel to 15 countries spanning Asia, Europe, and the US. Each new place unfolds a unique narrative of history, tradition, culture, and of course, cuisine. We don’t plan to travel to every single city in the world. Instead, we want to take our time exploring each place as thoroughly as possible.

At its core, this blog is an online chronicle of our travel stories, allowing us to relive our experiences and share them with fellow travel enthusiasts. Writing each post is like a journey down memory lane that brings back the emotions we felt during our trips, and we reread our posts every now and then. However, our purpose also extends beyond preserving memories.

More than just reminiscing, we’re committed to provide honest, unbiased reviews and act as a reliable resource with detailed trip reports and practical travel tips. We pay for all of our travel expenses ourselves and we don’t write sponsored posts. We don’t write about destinations we’ve never visited.

Japan is the country we would like to visit every region, and we love sharing our experiences traveling in this country. Vietnam is our home, and we love revisiting places to see how things have changed over time. Our guides for Vietnam are written from perspectives of locals, and some posts contain a lot of information you may not find elsewhere, such as our My Son Sanctuary extensive guide.
