Best Bangkok’s Dinner Cruises on Chao Phraya River (No Loud Music or Noisy Crowds!)
Chao Phraya River is one of Bangkok’s iconic waterways, and a river cruise has become a popular way for visitors to take in the scenery along the river. There are numerous Chao Phraya River cruises in Bangkok. However, the majority of these cruises are large-scale operations, featuring loud music and performances, with buffet-style meals that, while plentiful, tend to be average in quality.
We didn’t want to take a crowded, noisy cruise that could diminish the ability to fully appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the river’s surroundings. I thought to myself there’s got to be more premium cruises with a quiet atmosphere. We were glad that our search led us to a handful of premium alternatives that offered exactly that.
Unlike the regular cruises, the premium cruises below have fewer passengers on board (about 40-60 guests), creating a more relaxed and intimate environment to enjoy carefully curated menus and appreciate the beauty of illuminated landmarks along the routes. They are perfect for all types of travelers and occasions. Here are the best Bangkok’s dinner cruises on Chao Phraya River to consider.
Okura Cruise
The Okura Cruise is a new entry into the luxury river cruise scene and quickly sets itself apart with a new and beautiful boat, elegant and elevated dining experience. It is operated by The Okura Prestige Bangkok Hotel. We recently took this cruise in July 2025 and were thoroughly impressed with the food, service, amenities, atmosphere and scenery.
We particularly liked the layout of the boat. The main dining area is fully air-conditioned with large glasses all around. Meanwhile, the spacious open-air deck above provides a relaxing setting to enjoy the breeze and take in the expansive views. Clean and spacious bathrooms are available on board. You can read our full review of Okura Cruise here.

Schedule & Route
- Departure point: Asiatique Riverfront Pier. Asiatique is a lively riverside complex with many shops and restaurants. We found it quite fun to explore before boarding. Complimentary tea, coffee and water will be served at Okura Lounge.
- Cruise time: 7 pm boarding time and 9:45 pm arrival time.
Dining Experience
This cruise serves Japanese cuisine with two menu options:
- Seasonal kaiseki set (3,900 baht): a refined multi-course Japanese meal.
- Teppanyaki set (4,900 baht): live-cooked seafood or premium wagyu at the teppanyaki table.
- Drinks are not included in the prices of either set menus yet.
This is currently the most expensive Chao Phraya dinner cruise and we found it to be worth it. The food quality was excellent and staff were very attentive to guests’ needs. We initially debated between the kaiseki and teppanyaki options as teppanyaki is 25% more expensive. After taking the cruise, we were glad that we chose the teppanyaki. Along the cruise routes, there are actually not many landmarks or brightly lit structures beyond a few highlights like Wat Arun and ICONSIAM. Therefore, the live teppan cooking added an interactive element to fill in the quieter moments of the cruise.

Manohra Cruise
Manohra Cruise is one of the most established and iconic premium dinner cruises in Bangkok. It operates from Anantara Riverside Hotel and uses beautifully restored teak rice barges to evoke a sense of cultural heritage and timeless charm..
Schedule & Route
- Departure point: private pier of Anantara Bangkok Riverside Hotel. Welcome drinks and canapes will be served at Manohra Lounge at the hotel.
- Cruise time: 6 pm – 8 pm (this round will allow you to catch the sunset) and 7 pm – 9 pm.
Dining Experience
This cruise serves Thai fine dining dinner with two menu options. You can check all the menus here. The prices below are published on the official website but you will get discounted prices on Klook.
- Regular dinner set menu: 3,199 baht including free flow soft drinks or 4,199 baht with free flow beer, wine, soft drinks.
- Premium dinner set menu: 4,199 baht including free flow soft drinks or 5,199 baht with free flow beer, wine, soft drinks.
I was first attracted to this cruise because of its charming rice barges. However, in the end we didn’t go with it because the dining area is entirely open-air, and we weren’t sure how comfortable we’d be depending on the weather and temperature. If you prefer Thai cuisine and don’t feel the need to dine in an air-conditioned room, Manohra Cruise is a good choice. I did check with them in advance about rainy weather concerns. They confirmed that if it rains heavily, the cruise may delay departure slightly until the rain gets lighter, and the boat is equipped with covers during light rain.

Saffron Cruise
Saffron Cruise is operated by Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel. It is an extension of the Banyan Tree’s flagship restaurant, Saffron, known for modern Thai fine dining. The boat looks very modern with both indoor air-conditioned seating and a rooftop open-air deck. This setup is quite similar to that of the Okura Cruise, giving guests the flexibility to enjoy the comfort while dining or head upstairs to take in the night breeze and riverside views.
Schedule & Route
- Departure point: ICONSIAM pier, making it convenient to pair with a day of shopping the ICONSIAM complex.
- Cruise time: 7 pm – 10 pm.

Dining Experience
This cruise also serves Thai fine dining set menu at 3,300 baht per person. Drinks are not included. In addition to the standard set, a vegetarian menu and a kid’s menu are also available. See all the menus here. If you book the cruise on Klook, the prices are slightly cheaper compared to on the official site.

Comparison & Additional Tips
All three cruises have numerous positive reviews as the best dinner cruises in Bangkok and I myself can’t say enough good things about the Okura Cruise. I do plan to eventually try the other two cruises on our next trip to Bangkok.
As you can see, they are a lot more expensive than large-scale cruises (two to three times the prices). However, if you value a more quiet and refined atmosphere, it will be worth the money. I would put these premium cruises high on the list of must-do things in Bangkok. The view of Wat Arun illuminated at night is especially mesmerizing, so much so that even though the river doesn’t have many brightly lit landmarks, that single moment alone made the evening memorable.

Each cruise departs from different piers, so you may want to choose based on what’s most convenient for your itinerary. Just keep in mind that traffic in Bangkok can be a nightmare during rush hours, so make sure to give yourself extra travel time to avoid arriving stressed or late.

In terms of food, if you are tired with Thai food (like we were after five days in Koh Samui and four days in Chiang Mai), go with the Okura Cruise. If you prefer Thai cuisine, the other two cruises will be more suitable. Vegetarians will perhaps find the Saffron Cruise their best choice as it offers a full vegetarian menu option.
