JW Marriott Cam Ranh Bay Review: Newly Opened in 2025
The JW Marriott Cam Ranh Bay Resort had only just opened at the end of September 2025, and we stayed there for three nights in late October to celebrate my birthday. Overall, we think the place is running quite well for a newly opened resort. It wasn’t crowded during our visit, as operations were still ramping up, which made the atmosphere relaxing. When we were there, the guest mix was mostly Vietnamese and Korean. Below is our detailed review of the trip.

JW Marriott Cam Ranh Resort is located about 20 minutes by car from Cam Ranh International Airport, making it one of the more convenient beachfront resorts in the area. The stretch of coastline near the airport has developed rapidly in recent years, now home to a growing number of upscale and luxury resorts. Guests staying here enjoy direct access to a long, quiet, and generally swimmable beach, though swimming conditions can vary by season. During our visit which fell in the rainy season in Central Vietnam, the waves were quite strong and the water was not as blue as in summer months.
From the resort, it takes about 40 to 45 minutes by car to reach central Nha Trang, so it may not be ideal for travelers planning frequent sightseeing or dining in town. The immediate surroundings are rather quiet, with few restaurants or attractions nearby, which may or may not suit your travel style. For us, the location worked out fine as our plan was simply to walk along the beach and visit a nearby golf driving range each day.
The closest range, called Diamond Bay, is roughly 20 minutes away and offers both mat and grass tee options. The green fee is on the expensive side, but we could stay for as long as we wanted.

Cam Ranh and Nha Trang together host a wide range of beachfront resorts. For a truly luxurious and secluded experience, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay remains the top choice in the region. The JW Marriott Cam Ranh, while very comfortable, leans more toward an upper-upscale resort than a luxury property. Mia Nha Trang, another long-standing favorite in Cam Ranh, also offers a lovely stay and I’m looking forward to revisiting it after its future renovation.

Resort Lobby & Grounds
We arrived late in the evening, having informed the resort in advance through the chat function in the Marriott Bonvoy app. Upon arrival, the staff greeted us warmly and invited us to sit in the open-air lobby, which looked serene and atmospheric at night.

The interplay of warm lighting, shadows, wooden accents, stone textures and greenery gave the lobby a calm and elegant character that set a positive tone at the start of our stay. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, allowing us to head to our room and rest for the night after a long day.
During the day, the lobby area still looks beautiful with its spacious, open-air design and zen-like atmosphere. The presence of stone textures and an open courtyard centered around a large tree gave the space a sense of natural harmony and understated sophistication. This architectural concept carries through to several other areas of the resort, including some of the restaurants. However, I wish the guest rooms also reflected more of this aesthetic.

The resort grounds are surprisingly lush and mature, way more than I expected for a newly opened property. Tall trees, dense shrubs, and carefully manicured lawns create an atmosphere that feels already well-established, almost like a resort that has been around for years. This is definitely one of the strong points of this property to me.
Walking around is easy and pleasant. However, the path layout is rather zigzagged, which makes walks to the beach or restaurants a bit less direct and efficient. You can request a buggy to get around the property if you prefer not to walk too much.
Our Room
We booked a Premium King Room and were assigned a room on the fourth floor of building #3. The view was mostly greenery, partially blocked by an adjacent hotel block. As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member, I was a little disappointed, but we arrived late at night and didn’t notice the view until the next morning so we didn’t ask for a different room.

I know Marriott Gold is not a high tier level, but we have always been treated quite well, either upgrades to the next categories or at least rooms with great views, at Asian Marriott properties like the Vana Belle Koh Samui or the Westin Miyako Kyoto. It seemed that some nearby buildings were not yet in use, which might explain the allocation.
At around 70 m², the room felt spacious with a high ceiling and new furniture. The design leaned toward a warm palette of honey-colored wood, textured walls, and perhaps marble flooring? While the flooring material felt premium, I think it didn’t harmonize with the overall decor.

Besides, the layout gave me a slightly odd sense of proportion. The square-shaped room with the high ceiling created a lot of negative space, giving me a feeling of being in a box. Despite that, we like that there was ample space to relax, work and dine in-room. The wide lounge sofa can be of better quality as it sank too much in the middle to be supportive.
We arrived late at night, and the staff had prepared a small birthday cake and some cute towel elephants decoration in our room. The bed was on the firm side, so we had to ask staff to add a topper for more comfort the next morning.
The bathroom opens directly to the sleeping area, separated by sliding decorative panels that can be closed for privacy. We liked the large freestanding bathtub, bidet, and new fixtures, though there was only one sink. The robes and slippers were soft and comfortable but it was surprising that no beach bag was provided.

In addition to its regular hotel rooms, the resort also has a selection of villas and it looks like they all have private pools. The villa areas are positioned closer to the beach and slightly apart from the main hotel buildings.

Dining Options
The resort has several dining venues, with Clay Craft serving a hearty breakfast buffet every day. The dining room overlooks a lush garden area, creating a refreshing and relaxed morning setting. As the resort had only recently opened at the time of our stay, occupancy was still low, so breakfast felt calm and unhurried. We were pleasantly satisfied with the overall quality of the breakfast: the variety was good, ingredients fresh, flavors balanced, and the coffee was decent.

The buffet included a noodle station offering three choices: beef pho, chicken pho, and a vermicelli noodle soup that changed daily. There was also a small à la carte menu, a salad corner, bread and pastry section, yogurt and smoothies, fresh juices, ice cream, and a solid lineup of Vietnamese hot dishes, some even featuring fresh seafood. Western selections covered the classics such as eggs cooked to order (including eggs benedict), bacon, sausages, and potatoes.

The breakfast staff were energetic and polite, doing their best to make guests comfortable. There were minor inconsistencies, like sometimes noodle soups arrived without spoons, or scallions were forgotten. They probably just need a bit more time to familiarize with the rhythm.
For dinner, we tried Seafood Grill, an evening-only restaurant focusing on locally caught seafood. The staff explained that everything was sourced fresh daily. We ordered clam chowder, grilled lobster, and grilled squid, and the meal was better than our expectation for resort food. We found the pricing quite reasonable given the nice setting and attentive service. The menu could use a bit more variety, but the whole place is still new so there’s of course room to improve.

Bayside Bistro is a restaurant by the pool on the beach. We didn’t try it as we used room service for all of our lunches at the resort. The in-room dining menu wasn’t extensive and could be more cohesive in my opinion, but we were able to choose some dishes to try for our three lunches there. I wouldn’t say the food was excellent but decent enough for lazy meals. The wagyu pho was huge in portion with plenty of tender beef toppings.
Given the remote location of the resort, where dining options outside are limited and mostly very casual, I think the food quality is adequate. I hope they can maintain the quality and further expand the menus.
Activities and Facilities
We did two clay painting sessions in the resort’s clay studio, a paid activity that turned out to be quite fun and relaxing. Each guest is given a clay plate or mug along with a palette of paint colors to decorate freely. Once finished, the staff will fire the piece and return the completed product later.
It is a simple yet enjoyable hands-on experience. That said, the activity could be made a bit more engaging with some added guidance or creative prompts from staff, for example, showing guests sample patterns or color references to help guests visualize how the paints will look once fired.

The spa had just opened about a week before our visit, so facilities were still new and spotless. Long tried a head massage and hair wash, which were relaxing and professionally done.
Outside of these, the resort offers a mix of leisure options: a large swimming pool, a lagoon and kids’ pool, direct beach access, a pool table, and a well-equipped gym. There are also complimentary morning yoga sessions, though we didn’t join during our stay. And as mentioned at the beginning, you can also visit nearby golf driving ranges.

Conclusion
Overall, we found the JW Marriott Cam Ranh Bay to be a welcoming and well-designed addition to the Cam Ranh area. For us as locals, what we value most in a domestic getaway these days are quiet surroundings, comfort, beautiful scenery, spacious rooms, and professional service, and this resort met our expectations on all of those fronts.
While still in its early stage of operation, the property already shows strong potential, combining a serene beachfront setting with thoughtful landscaping. The JW Marriott Cam Ranh will certainly be among the first resorts that come to mind when we plan future trips to Nha Trang. Here’s the list of other resorts in Vietnam that we love.
